About the firm
Barry Row and Richard Scott set up the firm in the early 1980s having first met at McKeags as articled clerks. Originally based in St. Nicholas' Buildings in the centre of Newcastle the firm quickly expanded and opened a branch in Church Street, Consett and later at Wellwood Street in Amble. The Newcastle office has been based at 98 West Road since 2002. We also have an outreach office at Berwick upon Tweed situated at the Citizens Advice Bureau. Barry Row retired in January 2013 and Richard Scott in August 2015. Both remain as consultants with the firm.
Our firm has a proud tradition of providing legally aided work and holds contracts from the Legal Services Comission in Criminal, Family and Housing law. For those of our clients who do not qualify for legal aid, we offer the same excellent and professional service at competitive rates.
We have run the Legal Services Commission's Duty Possession Scheme in Northumberland since 2005 and in Newcastle since 2010. The scheme offers free legal advice at court for those people facing possession proceedings in respect of rented and mortgaged properties.
Our firm is Lexcel accredited and CQS accredited
